BIG Puts Grayshott on the Map

The new Grayshott Village Map commissioned by BIG funded by EHDC and produced by City Explorer

A new village map, promoting Grayshott as a place to visit and shop, is now available. The map is featured in a leaflet that will help to generate interest in the attractions and shops in Grayshott. Its production was supported by a grant from East Hampshire District Council.

The map shows places of interest, eateries, local shops and services and footpaths, with notes on the history of the area and places and buildings of interest. The leaflet is available from shops and information points in Grayshott and from local Tourist Information Centres and is being distributed to all households in the area. It was produced by Buy in Grayshott, a successful local business network with a strong membership in the area.

East Hampshire District Council awarded a grant to the Buy in Grayshott group under their Business Grants scheme. The grant helped fund a project to produce the village map, develop the village website and carry out customer care training for village businesses.

Dick Smith of Buy in Grayshott said "We are delighted that, with EHDC's grant support, we have been able to put Grayshott well and truly on the map. We hope that people will be inspired to visit the village with its fantastic choice of shops, all offering excellent service". He went on to thank the Village Archive Group and Grayshott Society for the help and assistance given in its production.

Ferris Cowper, Leader of East Hampshire District Council and Councillor for Grayshott added "Grayshott has a lot going for it, and Buy in Grayshott works hard to promote the village. We were very pleased to be able to support them with a business grant to enable the new village map to be produced."

The project has benefited businesses in Grayshott, and so will help to retain and generate jobs in the area, by encouraging people to shop there and enjoy the local facilities. The village website, www.grayshott.com, is being developed to make it easier for local businesses to link into their own section.
