The weather was damp in places but the cricket was surprisingly good at the friendly six aside competition organised last Sunday by Grayshott Cricket Club between six teams from the village - given that many of the teams had rarely played cricket before or if they had it had been a long time ago.
The six sides taking part were made up from sponsors and supporters of the Club including; Grayshott Firefighters, Buy in Grayshott (BIG), Grayshott Belles, Grayshott Ladies, a young side who substituted for the Fox and Pelican and Grayshott Social Club.
The day was well supported by friends and families of the willing participants and members of the club.
Two of the sides were predominantly ladies who were amongst the fittest of the competitors on show.
After the group stages came the semi finals. Grayshott Social Club captained by the non-playing Nick Butt lost out to the scratch Fox and Pelican side (many were under the legal age). Whilst the BIG side captained by big hitter Dick Smith overcame the Firefighters who demonstrated some exceptional fielding displays.
The wooden spoon was fought out by the Female firefighters and the Grayshott Ladies with the Grayshott Ladies just finishing on top in a very competitive bought.
The final between BIG and the young Fox side was the dampest of the day and the Fox and Pelican dominated.
Trophies were presented by Paul Roberts, the Club Chairman.
All entrants had a great day out despite the weather. Thanks go to the army of helpers who made the day run smoothly.
