Good time had by all at Grayshott Summer Ball

An elegant marquee in the grounds of Amesbury School was the venue last Saturday for this year's Grayshott Ball. It was attended by 140-odd revellers (many of whom, towards the end of the evening, became extremely odd, particularly the "Wild Thing" bloke - who, incidentally, sends his apologies!)

After an excellent dinner, provided by Dave McCoy, the equally excellent band, May Contain Nuts, kept the ball-goers on their feet with a wide selection of very danceable music.

The highlight of the evening, after a very successful raffle that raised over £700 for Cancer Research, was a last-minute offer by Richard Lago of Carat Associates, to auction two day-long charters in the flagship of his luxury yacht fleet from Portsmouth around the Solent. Our enormous thanks to him and to the two highest-bidding couples - Sue & Rod Neale and Valerie & Glen Blake - who between them bid over £1000 for the charity.

So a great time was had by all and many thanks to the hard-working ball committee (pictured above) for organising a memorable evening.

Local photographer Phil O'Connor, was there on the night to snap the Ball guests as they arrived in their finery, and these photos can be viewed and prints ordered online with £1 per print also donated to Cancer Research. Please visit philoconnor.com and follow the Grayshott Summer Ball link.
