Saturday, the seventeenth day of the merry month of May, saw Grayshott Village Hall transformed by the splendour and beauty of flowers. The Competitive Floral Show called 'Merry Month of May' was staged by members of Grayshott Flower Club and Intersocieties.
There were forty entries divided between eight classes each with a title linked to the May theme. The results were stunning, very pretty and all displaying a feast of colour, shape, form and texture.
The Liphook Society took Gold for the Intersociety exhibit. Members Gold Certificates were won by:

Eve Howard for May Ball
Jenny Titcomb for May Fayre
Jean Lovell-Butt for Maypole (Novice)
Olive Robinson for Maypole (Advanced)

Special awards were presented to:
Frances Collins The BESS SCRIMGEOUR TROPHY for the most points in the show.
Pat Freemantle The HAMILTON TROPHY for the Judge's Choice
Olive Robinson A GLASS CANDLE HOLDER for the best petite exhibit
Sue Wilson The KAY GUNNER TROPHY for best use of garden plant material
Mavis Hallt The NOVICE CHALLENGE TROPHY for the most points in Novice class
The Best in Show PAPERWEIGHT CHALLENGE TROPHY was won by Frances Collins and the HOWARD TROPHY for runner-up was taken by Olive Robinson.
After the trophy presentations Gill Purkiss, the Chairman, thanked Eve Howard, Pat Barrett and their team for their hard work in orchestrating the whole show. Over one hundred visitors to the show had indeed made it a most successful day!
