Can your sports club, community group or parish benefit?
Sports clubs, community groups and parish councils in East Hampshire could benefit from a fund that is set up to provide and enhance open space and recreation facilities in local communities.
Developers make a contribution to a stand-alone fund when they build in an area - and that money is then used for the benefit of the local community.
But how does it work, what are the contributions, and how does a local group, or parish or town council, benefit, or influence how future contributions are allocated?
This is the theme of a workshop being held by East Hants Get Active Partnership in the Council Chamber at Penns Place, Petersfield, between 7-9pm on Tuesday 25 March. Those attending will also hear case studies and examples of where developer contributions have helped in a local area.
Kirsty Cope, the council's community project worker for sport and play, said: "This will be a great opportunity for sports clubs in the district to find out about developers contributions and how the club might be able to benefit to enhance their facilities."
Places are free, and coffee and tea will be provided, but places must be booked in advance. To attend please contact Liz Moore at Community First East Hampshire, tel: 01730 710 017 or email training@communityfirst-easthampshire.org.uk website: www.communityfirst-easthampshire.org.uk
