The Buy In Grayshott Group ( BIG) recently held their annual charity fund raising golf day at Hurtmore Golf Club which proved the most successful day yet, raising the fantastic sum of just over £2,000. The money raised will be donated and in doing so supporting Grayshott Village initiatives and charities, two of such in the Village who will benefit are donations towards the badly needed refurbishment of the Organ in St Luke's Church and the maintenance and improvement of the Christmas lights on the Village Greens. As well a donation will be made to the " Ash Friends of Childline"
There were 52 members and friends of BIG who took part in the golf competition and the winning team was "Crackpots" entered by Grayshott Pottery, the team consisted of Glen Myers, Phil Bates, Eddie Gulliver and Colin Dodge. They scored a massive points win and Glenn Myers scored an individual best of 52 points playing off 22 handicap, Glenn not only won the individual prize on the day but may well go into the history book for his magnificent round!
On behalf of the winning "Crackpot" team Phil Bates thanked Dick Smith for the massive work and effort he put in before and on the day in making it so successful both for the players and the funds that were raised. Thanks as well went to all the businesses and local Golf Clubs, who donated prizes and rounds of golf which were auctioned after the excellent three course meal served by Hurtmore Golf Club.
Dick replied by saying he was " over the moon and touched by the generosity of everyone, what a fantastic day it's been, I am already looking forward to next years golf day, which I'm sure will be another great success."
Lastly but not least Phil went on to thank the sponsor for the day Liam Duncan owner of "Workmates" based in Grayshott, and as well to all those that turned up in making it an enjoyable day.
