Not to be outdone by their Under 9 side the previous Sunday, Grayshott won the I'Anson sixes competition on Sunday at Hollowdene, defeating home team Frensham in the final.
The Shotts featured in four group games against Thursley, Dogmersfield, Chiddingfold and Tilford. In the first two games Andy Wheble had to retire after the clearing the boundary on several occasions. In the third game Matt Haywood joined in the fun scoring 25 off just six balls, with all the Grayshott bowlers doing well.
In the final group game against Tilford which was effectively the semi final, Andy Wheble led the line well again as The Shotts finished on 67. In reply, Tilford chased the score down well requiring 28 off the last two overs. Simon Whitley kept his nerve despite Matt Barnes clearing the ropes twice as Matt Haywood ended the run chase with an excellent catch at full tilt. Again the Shotts bowled and fielded well.
In the final against Frensham, both Gary Hunt and Matt Haywood retired off 9 and 8 balls respectively as the Shotts raced to 57 off three overs, but then limped to 68. Frensham though were outdone by some excellent Grayshott bowling with Simon whitley bowling an excellent first over. Frensham put Stuart Balfour to the sword in the second over but surprisingly it was wicket keeper Mole who had just four runs from his over, followed by a maiden from Matt Haywood and a final tight over from Andy Lang saw the Shotts home quite comfortably.
The Shotts put in an excellent all round display including wicket keeper for the day James Tomlinson. Matt Haywood was awarded Player of the Competition.
All the players enjoyed the day which was well organised by Frensham Cricket Club.
