The Village Square Working Group have been keenly studying the results of the questionnaire, circulated at the Parish Assembly held on 30th March 2007, aimed at finding out which features villagers would like to see incorporated in the re-design of the square.
The results of 50 returned questionnaires (which can be seen below) put seating, planted areas, and a place for the traditional Grayshott Christmas tree top of the priority list with strong support for a cafe area, trees and lighting.
Cycle Racks and Covered Areas were given the thumbs down and there was mixed reaction to incorporating a Feature area, Information Boards and Entertainment / Exhibition Area.
Also exhibited at the Parish Assembly to help stimulate discussion were some design ideas from the working group along with an impressive display of the many designs dreamt up by pupils at Grayshott Primary School.
All the feedback so far received has been passed onto an enthusiastic group of Kingston University students who are studying landscape architecture. Under the direction of their tutor Simon Munro the group visted Grayshott for the day and are making the re-design of the square this years project.
In due course the working group hope to be able to shortlist some designs for further discussion and are now looking at the prospects for raising funds to implement the chosen grand design.
