Grayshott U9s won the Haslemere 6-a-side tournament on Sunday 15th July 2007, remaining unbeaten in a round robin event with teams from:
1) Haslemere A
2) Haslemere B
3) Liphook
4) Hambledon
5) Valley End.
In their first game against Haslemere A the Shotts scored a mighty 152 (the highest score in the tournament) in 6 overs and Haslemere mustered 108 in their allotted overs. The next game was against Hambledon in which Grayshott scored the lowest of the tourmament - 111. (Thankfully David Shepherd was not around!!)
Brilliant bowling and excellent fielding pegged Hambledon (our conquerors of last year) down to 109. A mere 2 runs in it!
The third game was against Liphook who batted first and reached 119. This proved too little as Grayshott reached the target quite easily and ended with a final score of 132. The encounter against Haslemere B proved to be yet another close encounter with Grayshott scoring 127 and the hosts falling short by 5 runs in the end.
The last game was against Valley End who too were unbeaten at that stage but we were ahead on runs scored.
Valley End put us into bat first and good knocks from all our batsmen saw us to a score of 142. Good bowling, catching and fielding allowed Valley End a final score of only 126.
An excellent performance from the young men of Grayshott who are pictured above receiving their Cup.
