The Grayshott Party in the Piazza fundraising event, held in Grayshott Square on Sunday 9th September was a great success.

Around 150 guests attended helping to raise almost £1,500 towards the village square refurbishment project. Guests enjoyed a 3 course Italian style lunch provided by the Village Kitchen Caterers complete with carefully selected Italian wines and Italian music.

''The food, atmosphere and sense of community spirit have been wonderful'' said one local resident. ''I could happily come here and do this every weekend''.

Chairman of the Grayshott Square Group Colin Thompson said: 'This was a really enjoyable day, demonstrating the real strength of the community. My sincere thanks to everyone involved, especially to all the local people for their encouragement and support.'

The 'Party in the Piazza' is one of many fundraising ideas to help towards the refurbishment of Grayshott Square, a project initiated earlier this year by The Grayshott Square Group. The project aims is to smarten and improve the overall look of The Square and provide a more practical, useable space reflecting the aspirations of local residents and business people.

Pete Hatch member of The Grayshott Square and Chairman of The PIG (Party In Grayshott) committee said: ''Grayshott has so much to offer. It is a wonderful place to live and visit and has already won the 'Village of the Year' award three times and several awards for business in the community. We now look forward to seeing The Square Refurbishment Project move forward''.

Fundraising efforts for the refurbishment of The Square, in Grayshott will continue throughout the year with plans to approach Architects in October for final designs. These designs will be based upon works undertaken by students of Landscape Design & Architecture at Kingston University and the resulting feedback gathered in June from local residents and business people.
