4pm on Sunday 15th July saw the garden of the Fox and Pelican decorated with balloons and photo's to celebrate 40 years of pre-schooling in Grayshott. Towards the back of the garden a disco was set up to hopefully keep children happy along with face painting. James from the pub kitchen was very busy getting a BBQ going.
Despite the small splatters of rain that had fallen at lunchtime by 4pm the sun was shining and welcoming everyone to join our party.
A wide range of people came down to help us celebrate, from the children that currently attend with their extended families to several teachers from over 20 years ago. The fun atmosphere was catching and there were villagers popping in as they could see someone was having a celebration and it sounded fun. All were welcome and everyone had a good afternoon.
The BBQ went very well and Ben and Emma were certainly good hosts ensuring that everything went without a hitch.
The afternoon ended with all the children gathering round to blow out the 40 candles on our cake, and the grown up's getting over excited with the drawing of our Grand Raffle. The holiday in Spain, and a day for 2 at Grayshott Spa being highly sought after.
There are too many thank you's to do here, but in particular I would like to pick out Ben and Emma from the Fox and Pelican, Magical Rooms for the Balloons, the wider businesses of Grayshott for their continual support of the preschool, and finally everyone who came down for the afternoon and helped us celebrate.
