Is this a sign of the times?

If you're a Grayshott resident and haven't seen the design proposed for the new Lloyd's sign above the Pharmacy, then perhaps you should have a look at it on the EHDC website Click here to view Planning application; The Pharmacy, 23828/002.

Just to remind you look at the photo above of the existing sign. Tasteful and ideal for a village you may think:

Now click here to look at what's proposed. Perhaps a little too bright and brash - and indistinguishable from any other High Street in 'anywheretown'. A change for the worse perhaps?

Do you think it fits into the surroundings well? Almost certainly it does NOT meet the recommendations of Grayshott's Village Design Statement!

Naturally, Lloyds are entitled to display their name above their Pharmacy. But rather than the ubiquitous plastic and flourescent lights, how about something more sympathetic and sensitive to surroundings - like their Lloyd's Pharmacy in Tetbury pictured below perhaps?

If you like the proposed 'same-as-every-other-chain-store' sign, then that's your decision. But if you prefer Grayshott to look like the individual village it is, then why not tell the EHDC that you object to the proposal.

It's very easy to do Click here to submit your views, objections or comments.

Closing date is 21 June 2007. Why not do it now.
