The Schools Safety Team and Fire-fighters from Grayshott Fire Station teamed up for a school visit last Monday. With over 700 schools the team are kept busy keeping pupils up to date with the latest Community Fire Safety programmes. Pupils are taught about the dangers of fire, the importance of fire safety equipment, such as smoke detectors, and action to take in the event of a fire. The team are equipped with a purpose built fire appliance to help engage the pupils. Grayshott crews were there to launch a poster campaign, sponsored by Grayshott Pottery, to launch their open day on the 23rd of June, celebrating 100 years of a fire station in Grayshott. At the open day will be a variety of fire appliances, old an new, as well as specialist equipment such as the Aerial Ladder Platform and Incident Command Support Units. Their will also be chip pan fire demonstration and the Hampshire Fire & Rescue Extrication Team will be demonstrating a simulation road traffic collision scenario were they will be cutting a casualty out of car. The team competes world wide and are ranked 6th best in the world. There will also exhibition on station mapping the history of the fire service in Grayshott. The grand finale will be a procession of the vehicles through the village which opens the popular annual Jamboree in Grayshott a family affair with a fair ground and lots local stalls and attractions.
