Grayshott Parish Magazine
Description In January 1898 there appeared the first editionof the Grayshott District Magazine the forerunner of

The Grayshott Parish Magazine. In that first number the editor wrote: In this, the first number of

our Magazine, perhaps a word of explanation is needed.

We believe that people who live together in a village ought to know each other, and that common

interests help people to know each other and-make better neighbours. Our aim, then, is to keep

in touch wiih the common life of the place and help to make

better known whatever ought to be of common interest. We, in Grayshott are not in the strict

sense of the word a district. But we are united in common worship. We have our Schools and our

Clubs, our Classes and our Entertainments. So far as space allows

we hope to tell month by month what is going on in these different ways. It is always, we find hard

to get anything thoroughly known in the district. The Magazine, we hope, will do something to

make it easier. We hope to have many readers.

That is the tradition which the present editorial staff has inherited and the principles which the first

Editor set down are stiIl the guiding principles of the present editorial staff.

The monthly circulation of some 500 copies encourages us to believe that the Grayshott Magazine

does fulfil this aim.
