Grayshott Neighbourhood Watch
Description
With the approval and on the instigation of the Hampshire Constabulary the Grayshott Parish |
Council set up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in the Parish in November 1988. With the
support of nineteen village residents, David Lawson established the scheme
and he continued to develop the effectiveness of the scheme until June 1992 when he handed it
over to Geoffrey Lee. Over the past thirteen years the strength of the Scheme has grown to thirty-
two participants. The aim of the scheme is to encourage
neighbours to support each other by the circulation of information on criminal activity within the
local area. With this aim in mind the local police provide itiformation and support. From time to
time meetings and briefings are held.
The police at Whitehill send out emails to the appropriate co-ordinators whenever necessary.
The crime rate is reported to be one of the lowest in England and Wales.
