Name St. Luke's Handbell Ringers
Category Handbell Ringing
Description The handbell ringers meet in the church rooms on a Wednesday for about an hour. The art of

handbell ringing has come down to us when handbells were first made to allow older bell ringers to

practice in winter away from the cold tower.

We now have sets of handbells that are used to ring tunes that vary from 12 bells to 5 octaves. St.

Luke's received a set of 2 octave handbells in 2000 and since then we have tried to encourage

people to jopin our group and learn to ring.

Although we use music this is marked up with colours to allow beginners to ring. We look forward

to increasing our numbers to ideally 8 to 10 to allow us to play in church and entertain other groups.
