DRAFT VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT -YOUR COMMENTS
We are required to draw out the 'Valuable Character' of Grayshott by the production of the Village Design Statement. As described in the Statement it is a component of the planning process and that component provides the other parties with our views. The Countryside Commission advisory booklet provides a list of prompts to guide us in the production of this document, they are:
1. to provide a context for new development; based on local character or sense of place;
2. to help manage change, at what ever scale it occurs;
3. to help how planned developments should be carried out;
4. to describe the distinctive character of the village;
5. to show how character can be identified within the village;
6. landscape setting; .
7. the shape of settlement;
8. the nature of the buildings themselves;
9. to draw up design principles based on the distinctive local character.
Key questions we need to answer:
10, What does it say about the character of the village?
11. Will it help to inform the design decisions of designers and developers?
12. Will it be compatible with local planning policies?
13. Is the character of the older village core different from the rest of the village?
On the bottom of this page there are a series of questions, which may help you to make your comments, use a separate piece of paper if you wish to expand on any point.
Please submit your comments by 15th May, 2004, to the village post office or to Tanchoux.
Further copies of the draft VDS may be obtained from: - Parish Council Office, Post Office, Tanchoux, Grayshott Bookshop & Grayshott Village School.
